The UP government has launched the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a 15-day campaign (May 29–June 12) targeting 50 lakh farmers, a third of the national goal of 1.5 crore.

The CM inaugurated the program on May 28, emphasizing the "Lab to Land" vision to disseminate agricultural research.

While Krishi Vigyan Kendras have expanded from none in several districts seven years ago to 89 today, operational delays persist. Only 18 of 89 KVKs were approved for upgrades to Centers of Excellence in December 2023, with just `3.57 crore released out of `26.36 crore allocated.

The campaign promotes Kharif technologies, natural farming, and government schemes like PM-Kisan and Fasal Bima. However,  farmers cite inconsistent access to extension services. Workshops happen, but follow-ups are rare,"said a Barabanki- based grower, requesting anonymity.

Officials claim the initiative will bolster long-term productivity, but critics argue such short-term drives often fail to address structural issues like credit access and market linkages.
