IPL 2025 Top Run-Getters, Orange Cap List: Despite a sophisticated performance by Sai Sudharsan in Mullanpur on Friday, the formidable Mumbai Indians managed their nerves better on the big stage and defeated the Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in a high-scoring IPL Eliminator.

Following Jonny Bairstow’s (47 off 22) immediate effect on his Mumbai Indians debut, which saw them reach an overwhelming 228 for 5 in 20 overs, Rohit Sharma (81 off 50) rode his luck to play a magnificent innings.

With amazing batting from Sudharsan (80 off 49), Titans, who were careless in the field and with the ball, managed to drag the match to the very end before losing at 208 for six to lose the tournament.

The Mumbai Indians ultimately prevailed in the crucial minutes to go on in the game. After the win, they will play Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 on Sunday in Ahmedabad. Sudharsan put his side on pace for an unlikely chase until his removal in the 16th over. It took a unique effort to overcome such a steep goal in a knockout game, even with heavy dew.

The Mumbai Indians returned to the game after Bumrah dismissed Washington Sundar (48 off 24) with his signature yorker and Sudharsan failed to scoop Richard Gleeson, causing his stumps to be removed.

It was enjoyable to watch Sudharsan go about his job while it lasted. Sudharsan was a vision of grace in a game of sheer strength, finding openings across the park with amazing accuracy. Rahul Tewatia and Sherfane Rutherford, both left-handers, were in the middle, and the equation came down to 36 from 12 balls. When the Titans needed 24 runs, Mumbai Indians rookie Richard Gleeson bowled the last over. He delivered three flawless deliveries to guarantee victory before limping away with a hamstring injury.

It was really a bold move to put Gleeson in for three deliveries knowing that he was in a lot of pain, and vice skipper Suryakumar Yadav was gathering resources in the last over. After the goal was out of reach, Surya removed him and instructed Ashwini Kumar, a left-arm seamer, to finish the necessary formalities.
