If your Aadhaar Card is over 10 years old and hasn’t been updated yet, you have just a few days left to update it free of cost. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is offering a limited-time window to make updates online via the myAadhaar portal at no charge, but only until June 14, 2025.
After this deadline, update charges will apply, even for simple document changes like address or ID proof. Here’s everything you need to know to make sure your Aadhaar remains accurate and up-to-date.
UIDAI has clearly stated that free updates are only available online through the myAadhaar website. If you visit a physical Aadhaar center to make updates, a ₹50 service fee will be charged, even before the deadline.
After June 14, all Aadhaar updates—whether online or offline—will require a fee.
UIDAI recommends that individuals who enrolled for Aadhaar more than 10 years ago should update their:
Proof of Identity (PoI)
Proof of Address (PoA)
Keeping this information current helps ensure your Aadhaar is valid for services such as banking, government schemes, and mobile verification.
On the myAadhaar portal, you can update:
Address
Name
Mobile number
Email ID
However, for sensitive details like photo or biometric data (fingerprints or iris scan), you must visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. These biometric updates cannot be done online and may include additional charges.
Here’s how to update your Aadhaar for free using the official UIDAI portal:
Go to: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
Click on the “Login” button
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and captcha code
Click “Send OTP”
Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number to log in
After logging in, select the “Document Update” option from the dashboard.
You’ll be asked to upload updated ID proof or address proof documents.
Document requirements:
Format: JPEG, PNG, or PDF
File size: Less than 2MB
Verify the information before submission
Click “Submit” once everything is in order
After submission, you’ll receive a Service Request Number (SRN). Use this number to track the status of your Aadhaar update.
Keeping your Aadhaar details up-to-date ensures that:
You receive government benefits without disruption
You can complete KYC processes for financial services
Your identity is accurately verified across systems
The June 14, 2025 deadline is fast approaching. If your Aadhaar is outdated, especially if it was issued over a decade ago, this is your last chance to update it for free—but only through the myAadhaar portal.
Avoid unnecessary charges and ensure your Aadhaar remains current by completing the update process online today.
