Liverpool's transfer target Hugo Ekitike has shown interest in a social media post about Jeremie Frimpong's move to the Premier League. The Dutch international has signed a five-year contract with Liverpool after leaving Bayer Leverkusen, becoming Arne Slot's first summer signing following the activation of his £29.5m release clause.

This development came shortly after Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure to Real Madrid was confirmed, just in time for him to participate in the Club World Cup.

Even though they've just clinched the Premier League title, Liverpool are already seeking reinforcements to defend their crown next season. They're currently leading the race to sign Florian Wirtz, Frimpong's highly-rated teammate at Bayer Leverkusen, despite interest from Bayern Munich.

Another potential recruit is Eintracht Frankfurt's Ekitike, who had an impressive season with the Bundesliga side, helping them secure a Champions League spot. However, Liverpool aren't the only ones eyeing the French U21 international; Chelsea are also reportedly interested in the former Paris Saint-Germain forward.

Despite the competition, Liverpool have already started their transfer activities ahead of their pre-season return in July, and there's been some intriguing social media activity from the Reds' linked striker.

Leverkusen's Instagram recently showcased Frimpong's top moments with Die Werkself, drawing attention even from Ekitike, who hit 'like' on the post. Liverpool, amid rumours they could face a battle for the forward, have already secured one deal in Frimpong.

Frimpong expressed his delight about joining the Reds, sharing with Liverpool's official website: "It went quite easy.

"Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer.

"For me, it was like, 'Whatever you guys do, just get this done', [speaking to] my agents: 'Just get this done.' Liverpool fans, I'm going to give my all, my energy, my work-rate and hopefully we can win together, we celebrate together, get everything together."
