Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to get engaged to Samajwadi Party politician Priya Saroj. With his IPL 2025 campaign with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) now concluded, Rinku can shift his focus to a major personal milestone. The engagement ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 8 at a hotel in Lucknow.
Earlier, social media buzz suggested that Rinku and Priya were already engaged after news of their marriage plans surfaced. However, it has now been confirmed that the official engagement will take place this month.
A few months back, Priya Saroj’s father, Tufani Saroj, clarified the status of her relationship with Rinku Singh. Tufani, a current Samajwadi Party MLA, told ANI that both Rinku and Priya had approached their families for approval. He also confirmed that the engagement hadn’t happened yet and that only initial discussions have taken place.
“Both the children have expressed their desire to get married and have sought our permission for the same. The engagement has not taken place yet. Initial talks have taken place in this regard,” Tufani Saroj had told ANI.
Rinku had a fairly average form in IPL 2025 with KKR, scoring 206 runs at an average of 29.42 and a strike rate of 153.73. It was a disappointing season for the Knight Riders, who managed only 5 wins in 14 games, finishing eighth on the points table with 12 points and a net run rate of -0.305.
Rinku is also a key part of India’s T20I squad. In 30 matches and 22 innings, he has scored 507 runs at an impressive average of 46.09 and a striking strike rate of 165.14, including three half-centuries. However, he is still chasing his first T20I hundred. The 27-year-old made his T20I debut against Ireland in 2023.
