New Delhi: Nepotism in Bollywood has been a contentious subject for quite some time. Recently, actor Rajpal Yadav spoke on the matter, stating that an actor’s success relies on their talent. In a conversation with ANI, Rajpal mentioned that while connections might help one get a foothold in Bollywood, true success is determined by one’s natural abilities and the audience’s reactions.
Rajpal, who himself has built a respected career without any connections in the film industry, stated, “Nepotism does not exist. I want to be completely honest. If nepotism were true, how would we have Shah Rukh Khan, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, Johny Lever, Sanjeev Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, or Dharmendra?”
He further added, “in my family nobody asked me to join bollywood or theatre..me khud mere mann mein mein aaya and i told my kids also… ki koi bhi khel mein aur cinema mein koi koi koi koi koi koi ka jeewan nahi baan sahi (In Film and Sports Nobody Can Make Your Life)… .To usme aapke andar ka jo baitha hua ek sachha aur aur acha insaan hai agar vo aapko bolta hai you are capable to do this to this to this to this to this to sakta hu par dhakke ke baad jo patkhani khaoge usko mai bhi nahi bacha sakta .. (If the good personality sitting with you tells you can do it, then do it, then do it. Later, I can’t prevent that), “
Rajpal further said that even if you have a godfather in the industry or any father figure, there’s no chance you will excel in this field. ”If you are a player, your kid will get a chance to play. Similarly, if a person who has been doing film or television for 30 years, his child… He must know what my father does. So, he will learn filmmaking lekin woh chalega ki nahi chalega, kar paayega ki nahi kar paayega, woh urza hai ya nahi hai, woh decide karta hai ya to uparvala ya audience.. nepotism nahi hai,” he further added.
He then shared his own experience and said that he has been in the industry for 38 long years, but still could not help his relatives get any position in the industry. It totally depends on your fate, skills, and hard work. Also, ultimately, the audience decides everything.
