Fact Check: People of Bihar should not pay attention to rumours, no one is giving thousands or lakhs of rupees in exchange of old notes

False promises are being made to give thousands and lakhs of rupees in exchange for old notes of a particular series.

The government and administration also run awareness campaigns to prevent such incidents. Despite this, people get trapped in this trap. The current case is related to Bihar. Here a rumour is spreading about old Indian currency. It is being claimed on social media platforms that those who deposit a special type of old currency will be given thousands and lakhs of rupees. There is not an iota of truth in this.

A strange kind of rumor has been spread on social media about old notes and coins. A post has been issued saying that those who return such notes and coins will be given 10 to 20 lakh rupees. A social media campaign is also being run regarding this. A large number of people in Bihar have come to exchange old notes after falling prey to this rumor. They are hoping that they will get lakhs of rupees in return. However, there is no solid basis behind this and it is a mere rumor.

 

 

 

 

 

Rumors on special number notes

 

There is a lot of rumour about the notes with special numbers. It is being claimed in social media posts that thousands and lakhs of rupees will be given in exchange for the old notes on which the number 786 (in the series) is written. A mobile number is also being flashed with this post and it is being said that if you have old notes with special numbers, then deposit them and get lakhs of rupees. In the video shared on the social media post, an elderly person is seen saying that he has come to deposit the old notes and he will get money in return. At the same time, a person had come from Agartala to deposit the old notes.

 

Don't fall into the trap

In fact, the claims being made in all the videos and posts going on social media are completely false and rumours. In such a situation, people of Bihar are advised not to fall for such rumours. No one is giving thousands or lakhs of rupees to anyone in exchange for old notes of a particular series. On the other hand, no such instructions have come from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the institution that regulates the banking sector. In such a situation, do not fall into the trap of gangs offering thousands or lakhs of rupees in exchange for old notes.
