To which Big B responded I need more because I want to buy a house.”. Adhering to his wish Yash Chopra ensured to pay him accordingly. Next time around when Yash Chopra asked the same question to Amitabh for Mohabbatein he said You gave me what I asked for last time. This time I’ll take only ₹1 for the film.” And he meant it. The film was made on a whopping budget of Rs. ₹19 cr and collected more than 4 times its cost which was a whopping ₹77 crore worldwide. The film not only was a superhit commercially but it also brought together generations of actors like Amitabh with the then-rising superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Even now Amitabh Bachchan continues to resonate with the audience. His contribution to the Hindi film cinema is unmatched and even today he is one of the most celebrated and respected actors in the Bollywood industry. While today he charges lavishly his gesture of charging just Rs. 1 for Mohabbatein shows that he is not only a great actor but a great human too.
