WhatsApp Shut Down: From June 1, 2025, many things have been implemented across the country, which is having a huge impact on the life of the common man. Similarly, from January 1, many Android and iOS users are getting a shock. WhatsApp has not running on many Android and iOS smartphones since June 1. This is part of the regular update of Meta, which is the parent company of WhatsApp. Under this, the minimum technical requirements are being increased to use the app. Let us tell you that earlier this change was going to be implemented from May 1, 2025.
WhatsApp will stop working on these iPhones, and Android smartphones.
From June 1, 2025, those iPhones which have iOS 15 or older operating systems will not support WhatsApp. Similarly, WhatsApp service has also stopped on Android phones running on Android 5.0 or older versions. iPhone includes iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE (1st generation). Android includes many older models like Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Xperia Z1, LG G2, Huawei Ascend P6, Moto G (1st generation), Motorola Razr HD, and Moto E 2014.
What should WhatsApp users do, chat backup is important.
WhatsApp users should first check the operating system of their phone. If your iPhone can be updated to iOS 15.1 or newer version and your Android phone can be updated to Android 5.1 or newer version, in this case, WhatsApp runs on the smartphone. At the same time, users whose smartphone stops supporting WhatsApp, first take a backup of the chat history on Google account immediately. To take a backup, go to WhatsApp's settings, tap on Chats and then select Chat Backup, and follow the instructions on the screen.
This is why Meta made this decision.
The main reason behind this move by WhatsApp is the security of the users. Devices with older operating systems stop receiving regular security updates from Google or Apple. Without this, the device becomes more vulnerable to online threats like hacking, malware and data theft. WhatsApp wants to ensure that its users use secure hardware and new operating systems. This will keep private information and conversations safe.
