In today's time, if you have a mobile, then understand that almost all the work can be done in a jiffy. From mobile banking to UPI (Unified Payments Interface), nowadays everything is present in the mobile, so all the work related to finance is done very easily. But this also increases the risk, that is, you need to be very careful that your mobile does not fall into the wrong hands, otherwise, your pocket can also be emptied in minutes. Therefore, if your mobile gets stolen due to any reason, then do 3 things, so that you can avoid any major loss.

These are the 3 important steps that you should take immediately
1. First of all get the SIM card blocked

The first and most important step as soon as the phone is stolen is to get your SIM card blocked. By blocking the SIM, the thief will not be able to receive OTP (One Time Password) to generate a UPI PIN on your mobile number.

How to do it?

Call the customer care of your mobile operator (eg Airtel, Jio, Vodafone-Idea) from another phone. Tell them that your phone has been stolen and you want to get the SIM blocked. The customer care executive may ask you for some information to verify your identity, such as your full name, billing address, date of birth, last recharge amount, or email ID. On providing the correct information, your SIM will be blocked immediately.

2. Get UPI services stopped immediately

After getting the SIM blocked, the next step is to get your UPI services stopped. This will prevent any UPI transaction from being done from your stolen phone. How to do it? Understand

Call the bank

Immediately call the helpline number of the bank whose account is linked to your UPI ID. Inform the bank that your phone has been stolen and you want to request to temporarily block your bank account or stop UPI services.

UPI App Helpline

You can also block UPI apps by calling the helpline numbers 01204456456 for Paytm, 02268727374 for PhonePe, and 18004190157 for Google Pay. If you use other UPI apps, contact their customer care numbers.

3. Register an FIR with the police

This is also a very important legal step. Because if someone misuses your phone, this FIR will act as legal evidence and protect you from any potential liability. A copy of the FIR is also required to get a new SIM card in the future and to re-activate bank services and UPI.

Go to your nearest police station and register an FIR (First Information Report) for mobile theft. Do not forget to take a copy of the FIR.
