Ekadashi in June 2025: Ekadashi is considered one of the most sacred days dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. On this auspicious occasion, devotees observe a strict fast and offer heartfelt prayers to seek his divine blessings. There are 24 Ekadashis observed each year—two in every month, one during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) and the other during the Krishna Paksha (waning phase).
Nirjala Ekadashi holds special significance, as it involves a strict fast where devotees abstain from both food and water. This intense form of fasting is what gives it the name "Nirjala," meaning "without water." It is believed that observing Nirjala Ekadashi with full devotion grants the spiritual merit of all 24 Ekadashis observed throughout the year.
Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe, is believed to absolve the sins of those who worship Him with unwavering faith and dedication. On Ekadashi, devotees commit themselves wholeheartedly to the fast, practicing celibacy and steering clear of any tamasik (negative or impure) actions, thereby purifying their minds and souls.
