New Delhi: In a fresh jab at Pakistan over Operation Sindoor, the BJP shared a new meme inspired by Indian chess prodigy D Gukesh’s recent world championship win and the moment his opponent Magnus Carlsen vented his frustration by banging on the table after the loss.

The meme was captioned “Checkmate”. It showed India’s decisive response to Pakistan through Operation Sindoor, which was launched to retaliate the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.

The meme was posted from the BJP’s official handle, after the Indian Armed Forces successfully struck the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. More than 100 terrorists were killed in the precision strikes.

Every move shown in the meme draws parallel with the India-Pakistan standoff, and summarises Operation Sindoor. It starts with Pahalgam terror attack, followed by India’s strike on terror camps and Pakistan’s drone attacks intercepted by India’s Akash and S-400.  India destroys airbases in Pakistan with BrahMos, after which Pakistan pleads ceasefire.

Operation Sindoor has been hailed by BJP leaders as a clear demonstration of the government’s “zero tolerance” policy towards terrorism.

The post of BJP drew a symbolic comparison between chess champion D Gukesh’s calculated, strategic win over world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen and the government’s approach to combat terror through Operation Sindoor against Pakistan.

D Gukesh won against the former world number one in Round 6 of the tournament. He came around from an almost losing position on Sunday to defeat Carlsen. The win was Gukesh’s first-ever classical win against the Norwegian grandmaster.
