Lucknow: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over several regions of Uttar Pradesh till June 7, 2025. Wind speeds may reach 30–40 kmph in isolated areas, with chances of light to moderate rainfall during this period.

The weather activity is being attributed to an upper air cyclonic circulation over central parts of the country and a trough running from eastern Uttar Pradesh to South India. These systems are expected to influence the weather pattern across eastern and central Uttar Pradesh over the next few days.

No heatwave warning has been issued for Uttar Pradesh, even as neighbouring states like Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal are witnessing severe heatwave conditions.

The IMD has urged farmers and residents to remain alert and avoid taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms. Precautionary measures are advised for those working in the open, especially in agriculture and construction.

The northern limit of the monsoon is currently passing through central India and is yet to advance significantly over Uttar Pradesh. However, light pre-monsoon activity is expected to bring temporary relief from high temperatures in some districts.
