The tragic murder of TikToker Sana Yousuf in her own home in Islamabad shocked the nation, and now her father has come forward with heartbreaking revelations about the moments leading up to her death.
On the evening of June 2, 22-year-old Omar Hayat—popular on TikTok and known by the nickname “Kaka”—allegedly took the life of Sana Yousuf in her residence. The suspect, reportedly frustrated by Sana’s continued rejection of his advances and requests to befriend her, entered her home and shot her dead. The Islamabad Police quickly responded, registering a murder case based on a complaint filed by Sana’s mother. The accused was later arrested and taken into custody.
Sana’s father, Syed Yousuf Hassan, shared disturbing new details in an interview from Chitral with the BBC. According to him, shortly before the incident, Sana had sent her mother to the market. She mentioned that Eid was approaching and she needed detergent to wash her clothes. Using this as a reason, she persuaded her mother to step out—unknowingly creating the opportunity the killer would exploit.
Once the house was partially empty, the suspect reportedly gained entry, approached Sana in her room, and opened fire.
Sana’s aunt, who was present in the home at the time, recounted hearing what sounded like a balloon bursting. Alarmed, she rushed toward Sana’s room only to see a young man—later identified as the suspect—exiting the room. She attempted to intervene, but the man turned his pistol on her. Thankfully, the weapon failed to discharge, and he fled the scene.
Still unaware of the full extent of the tragedy, Sana’s aunt chased after him, believing him to be a thief. It was only after he escaped that she returned and discovered Sana had been shot. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, but it was too late.
Sana’s father was not at home when the shooting occurred. He recalled sitting near a friend’s house when the friend received a call alerting them to an emergency. Moments later, his wife contacted him to inform him of the unfolding situation. Rushing to the hospital, he was met with devastating news—his daughter had succumbed to her injuries.
