Actor and model Muzammil Ibrahim has revealed that he was once in a relationship with Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone. In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Muzammil opened up about their romance, saying the two dated for two years after Deepika first moved to Mumbai to pursue her career.
“We were in a relationship for two years,” Muzammil shared. “I was the first guy she met in Mumbai. She was very confident, being Prakash Padukone’s daughter people already knew about her.”

According to Muzammil, it was Deepika who initiated the relationship, and he eventually chose to end it. At the time, he was already a known face in the entertainment industry, while Deepika was just starting out. “I was a star back then; she wasn’t. Now, she’s a superstar, and I’m the one people have forgotten,” he admitted candidly. “But I’m a big fan of hers. I love watching her movies. She’s a beautiful woman and doing so well. The fact is what it is.”
When asked whether they had remained in contact, Muzammil said that they stayed friendly for a while. “Before she got married, we would talk sometimes. We congratulated each other on achievements.” However, he confirmed that they lost touch after Deepika married actor Ranveer Singh.

Reflecting on their time together, Muzammil spoke fondly of the simpler days. “We were just kids. We’d take rickshaw rides in the rain. That was very cute. I was earning more at the time and later bought a car she was so happy about it. These memories are special. I haven’t been on a rickshaw date since then, and back then, we were so happy even though we didn’t have much.”

He also recalled a birthday memory, when he asked a DJ to play Deepika’s favourite song repeatedly. “Even though I didn’t have money, the DJ played that one song for an hour and a half, just because it was her birthday and we were friends. It was a special gesture,” he added.
Despite going their separate ways, Muzammil’s reflections on his relationship with Deepika highlight a nostalgic chapter from before both their lives changed dramatically.
