British Soap Awards 2025 fans issued the same complaint minutes into the show on Thursday (June 5).

Some of the best-loved stars from Coronation Street, Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks gathered at the Hackney Empire in London at the weekend to celebrate another unforgettable year of soap.

Jane McDonald, 62, returned to present the awards, which was broadcast on ITV1 tonight.

However, the ceremony was delayed by a technical issue, with the broadcaster showing a banner that read: "We're sorry for the disruption".

Soap fans were left frustrated by the delay, with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their confusion.

"The British Soap Awards aren't even live, why tf is there a disruption?" one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Another added: "What's happening?" while a third said: "Eh, soap awards? We've already waited 5 days for this! Get your act together."

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: "Not the soap awards not working," with another similarly sharing: "ITV gone down when the soap awards should be on, typical. It isn't even live."

After over six minutes off air, the pre-recorded ceremony soon returned to screens as normal.

It wasn't a great night for at this year's Soap Awards, with the programme suffering a devastating loss after only taking home the specially curated Outstanding Achievement Award, which went to Roy Cropper star David Neilson.

also faced a crushing blow, after only winning Best Young Performer for April Windsor star Amelia Flanagan, and the Tony Warren Award for long serving cameraman Mike Plant.

It was that took home the most awards, collecting a total of eight titles in its 40th anniversary year.

The BBC drama won Best Soap, as well as actress Lacey Turner receiving the award for Best Leading Performer ahead of her upcoming exit from the show.

Steve McFadden won Best Dramatic Performance as Phil Mitchell, while Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter received a prize for Best On-Screen Partnership as Patrick and Yolande Trueman.

The British Soap Awards will be available to stream on ITVX
