NEET PG 2025 Supreme Court Decision: The Supreme Court has officially granted the National Board of Examinations (NBE) permission to conduct the NEET PG 2025 examination on August 3, 2025, extending the initial date from June 15. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Postgraduate will be held in a single shift. The order was passed by a bench that consisted of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Augustine George Masih, who made it clear that no extensions would be given under any condition, as reported by news agency ANI. The rescheduling was made essential after the top court, in its May 30 order, instructed that the NEET PG should be conducted in a single shift alone, citing concerns about fairness and uniformity in evaluation. To abide by this instruction, the NBE made a plea for extra time to arrange new logistical arrangements, leading to the latest application in the court. With this final date now confirmed, medical aspirants can begin preparing with clarity, knowing the exam format and schedule are fixed.Last Year's Exam FormatIn 2024, the NEET PG examination was held in two shifts on August 11, with the first session running between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM and the second from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The candidates were put into shifts randomly so that there would be an equal distribution of candidates and bias could be lessened. To ensure equity in assessment, the National Board of Examinations had a normalization process implemented to correct any difference in difficulty levels between shifts. Scores were computed based on raw scores and percentile ranks up to seven decimal places. In case of a tie, seniority was given to the older candidate. The merit list for final selection was drawn upon percentile scores in both sessions.
