Patna: Unstable onion prices become a matter of concern for both farmers and consumers every year. While consumers are troubled by rising prices, farmers are forced to sell the crop at a quarter to one price due to lack of storage. Taking a solution to this problem, the Bihar government has announced a grant of up to 75 percent on the construction of onion storage houses.
50 metric ton capacity, warehouse ready for just ₹ 1.5 lakh
According to the information given by the government, the estimated cost of onion storage houses with 50 metric tonnes capacity is ₹ 6 lakh. Out of this, the government will give a grant of up to ₹ 4.50 lakh, and the farmers will have to bear the cost of only ₹ 1.5 lakh itself. This will give farmers a chance to choose a better time to sell crops in the market, which will give them a fair price.
