Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko and his family met with a horrifying car accident near Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Friday. His father reportedly died on the spot, while the actor and other members of the family were rushed to a local hospital.According to a report in Manorama, the incident took place near Palakottai, close to Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu, at around 7 am on Friday. Chacko was travelling with his driver, parents and brother in a car, when it rammed into a lorry in front of them.Chacko's father, CP Chacko, succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while the others are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Palakottai. Several visuals of a completely damaged car went viral online. Videos showing Chacko being tended to by doctors have also surfaced on social media. Cops went after him after an actress accused him of harassing her under the influence of drugs, and claimed that he would consume cocaine and other drugs even on the sets of his films, and that the entire crew and production unit was aware of his behaviour.Post the complaint, cops raided a hotel where Chacko was staying and allegedly consuming drugs, but he was seen fleeing the spot the moment he got a whiff of police presence in the property.He was later nabbed and arrested, but was granted bail the same day. He was then admitted to a rehab under the Kerala government’s de-addiction programme called 'Vimukthi'.
