Koraput: A tragic incident unfolded in Odisha's Koraput district when a man lost his life following a violent dispute with his cousin during the Indian Premier League (IPL) final match, as reported on Friday.

The altercation occurred on Tuesday in the Ralegada panchayat area, where local residents had gathered to enjoy the IPL match. The victim has been identified as Ajit Latchanna.

Ajit's family has since lodged a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident.

The conflict reportedly ignited after the dismissal of star player Virat Kohli. Ajit began to express his frustration loudly, which provoked his cousin, Komu Poulu. Despite Komu's attempts to calm him, the situation escalated into a physical confrontation.

In a moment of rage, Komu allegedly struck Ajit on the head with a wooden stick, resulting in significant injuries, according to sources.

Ajit was first taken to the Primary Health Centre in Pottangi before being referred to Koraput Medical College. Eventually, his family decided to transfer him to a private medical facility in Andhra Pradesh.

Unfortunately, despite the medical interventions, Ajit succumbed to his injuries late Thursday night.

The Pottangi police have initiated an investigation and registered a case concerning the incident.
