Starlink, which is a satellite internet service company, was trying for its entry in India for a long time. Now it seems that their efforts are going to bring color. Recently, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has confirmed that Starlink will soon start its services in India. It is a clear indication that the launch of Starlink is now a few steps away.
What is the way forward?
Starlink has given the letter of introduction to the Government of India, now it is waiting to get GMPCS license. As soon as GMPCS license is received, final approval will have to be obtained from IN-Space. When this approval is received, only Starlink will be able to start its services in India.
Satellite is getting collided for internet
Prior to Starlink, Onweb and Reliance have received licenses for satellite connectivity. The specialty of Starlink is to give fast and low latency broadband internet, especially in areas where internet infrastructure is not weak or available.
There is not much time left for getting approval from IN-Space. At the same time, Amazon is also engaged in obtaining licenses to launch satellite internet in India under its project Kuiper.
Starlink plans and price in India
According to The Economic Times report, Starlink will start the price of unlimited data plans under a promotional offer in India at about $ 10 (about Rs 840). This strategy of Starlink to provide better internet service at a low price can also increase the challenge of introducing affordable plans for other satellite internet companies in India.
Blessing for remote areas
Starlink and other satellite internet companies will help in increasing the internet access to far-flung and weak connectivity areas, which will provide better digital services to the people living there.
