Delhi: Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc has recently clarified his decision to withdraw from the final phase of IPL 2025. Stark, who was playing for the Delhi Capitals (DC) this season, said that his priority is now red ball cricket, especially keeping in mind the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final 2025.

Significantly, the IPL was postponed for a week due to the recent security situation in India. However, after the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the tournament resumed from 17 May. Despite this, some foreign players decided not to return to the tournament.

Stark said in a conversation with Sydney Morning Herald, “I am completely comfortable about my decision, the situation that created, he impressed my decision, and I was looking at the whole situation carefully during that time. My priority is now Test cricket, and the World Test Championship Final, this decision was necessary to prepare for a big match.”

He further said, “I am fully committed to Delhi Capitals. I am not one of those players who withdraw from the tournament after the auction. It was an extraordinary situation.”

Stark is the backbone of Delhi’s bowling attack this season. He took 14 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 26.14. Their absence felt their Delhi team, which could win only one of their last three matches and was out of the playoff race.
