According to PlaySide Studios, Game of Thrones: War for Westeros will be a “classic” real-time strategy game set in the world of Westeros. The game will feature “ruthless free-for-all battles,” and allow fans to command the Great Houses — including House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or the army of the Night King — to go up against one another. Each house will have its own signature heroes, armies, mechanics, and more, and locations in the game are also inspired by the famous locations from the series.
“In War for Westeros, chaos reigns in ruthless free-for-all battles where trust is fleeting and power is everything. Command the Great Houses in epic real-time strategy battles, forge strategic alliances, or weave deceit against your rivals,” reads the game’s description.
In a statement to Variety on the game from PlaySide Studios game director Ryan McMahon, he said that the game aims to give fans the chance to not only write the history of the Seven Kingdoms, but play it themselves.
“‘Game of Thrones: War for Westeros’ takes fans back to the Seven Kingdoms. This time, you’re not watching the ‘Game of Thrones’ – you’re playing it,” McMahon said. “War for Westeros puts you in the seat of power, whether you’re leading the Starks, Targaryens, or Lannisters, or even commanding the Night King and his army of the dead, you’ll wield real power and rewrite the fate of the realm.”
