Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The government has woken up from its slumber after Free Press reported that around 50,000 employees — both regular and non-regular — have not withdrawn their salaries for months, despite having valid employee codes. The Free Press published the report on June 5th .

On Friday, the Finance Department issued a letter stating that checking data of regular and non-regular employees is a regular process. It has now instructed all Drawing and Disbursement Officers (DDOs) to confirm employee data.

A state Finance Intelligence Cell working under the Commissioner, Treasury and Accounts Office, which routinely monitors salary withdrawals, analysed the Treasury software and found that around 50,000 employee codes had not been used to withdraw salaries over the last four months.

During analysis of December 2024 data, it was found that several employees had valid codes, but retirement dates were not entered, and their exit process in the IFMMES software was also incomplete. Yet, no salary had been withdrawn for four months.

All treasury officers have now been directed to provide the necessary data to their respective DDOs. A confirmation, along with the reasons for non-withdrawal of salary, must be submitted within 15 days.

If any irregularities are found in the data, an immediate report is to be submitted through the Divisional Joint Director, Treasury and Accounts.
