The hit of inflation is now clearly visible on online shopping. E-commerce giant Amazon has decided to implement the Marketplace FEE by giving a major setback to its customers. According to the company, this step has been taken with the aim of improving customer experience, but due to this Prime members also seem angry. Now Amazon is also seen walking on the path of platforms like Blinkit and Zepto, which have already been charging additional fees.
Amazon will now charge a marketplace fee of ₹ 5 on every order. This charge will be applicable to all customers-premam members or non-prime-two. However, the company has currently excluded some product categories from this fee.
This fee will not be charged on digital services like recharge, gift card, insurance payment, movie and travel ticket booking etc. If customers order in these categories, they will not have to pay any additional charge. It is worth noting that even if one order includes many products, only the fee of ₹ 5 will be recovered, not on every item.

Amazon has also clarified that if the customer cancels the order before shipment, the entire marketplace fee will be refunded. For example, if you ordered ₹ 500 with two products of ₹ 100 and ₹ 400, and you cancel the ₹ 100 item, then only a refund of ₹ 1 will be available.
A mixed response is seen on social media regarding this new charge of Amazon. Many customers consider it to be a “small but disappointing change”, while some users are calling it an important step to maintain service quality.
