Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, where the silence of the night was ripped by an innocent scream. Under the Alambagh Metro station, a poor family was sleeping with his two and a half year old daughter, but a pardon destroyed his life. This heartbreaking incident not only shook the family, but also ran a wave of anger in the entire city. But the Lucknow police took the first step of justice by piled up this poor in an encounter within 24 hours. On Wednesday night, a family was in a deep sleep with his two and a half year old girl on the platform of Alambagh metro station. The family is originally from Unnao and spends the junk. Around three o’clock in the morning, when the parents’ eyes opened, their daughter was missing. The disgrace parents started searching for him. Shortly, an elderly man told that the girl is crying in the corridor near the lift of the metro station. On reaching there, the scene that came out should shock the heart of any human being. The innocent was soaked in blood, bleeding from her private organs. He was immediately taken from e-rickshaw to Lokbandhu Hospital, from where he was referred to KGMU due to critical condition.
Lucknow police took this heinous crime seriously. A case was filed in Alambagh Kotwali under several sections including rape, Poxo Act. The police immediately started investigating the CCTV footage, showing a suspected youth carrying the girl. Five police teams were formed, who searched footage of more than 200 cameras. The suspect was identified as Deepak Verma till late Thursday night. At around 3:45 am on Friday, the police on the Sugarcane Institute Road saw the police suspect. When an attempt was made to stop him, he tried to escape and started firing on the police. In retaliation, the police surrounded him, and Deepak Verma fired two bullets in the encounter. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Inspector Alambagh Subhash Chandra Saroj confirmed this.
The incident occurred in a busy area like Alambagh, where four police posts within a radius of 200 meters – Chandar Nagar, LD, Alambagh bus stand, and Bhilawan are present. Nevertheless, the police did not even know about this incident. Local people and traders questioned the police patrolling. Chander Nagar Chowki is just 50 steps away, then Bhilawan Chowki at a distance of 80-100 steps. In such a situation, such a big incident and the police remain unknown raises many questions.
The girl is undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center in KGMU. Dr. JD Raatv, Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, said that the girl has suffered serious injuries, especially in private organs. The team of specialist doctors is undergoing free treatment. The operation was prepared on Friday, and the condition of the girl is now said to be stable. Doctors say that she is slowly recovering, but her mental and physical pain will take time to recover.
Everyone’s eyes become moist after hearing the pain of the baby’s maternal grandfather. He told that earlier he used to pick up junk in Lucknow and called his daughter and son -in -law from Unnao here. Now he is cursing himself, says, “If we did not call him here, it might not have to see this day.” Parents are also regretting their negligence, because the girl was sleeping between them, yet they could not save her.
Police investigation revealed that accused Deepak Verma had reached the metro station on white scooty. In the footage, he was seen picking up the girl and taking it to the lift, where she committed this heinous crime. The 20-25-year-old youth escaped after the incident, but the police prompt found him in 24 hours.
