There are debates regarding India's playing XI for the first Test match against England. Although the batting unit appears almost finalized, there is a huge debate regarding bowling. Many argue that Team India must play two spinners at Headingley. This was not the situation in Australia, except in one game, and did not occur in England last season either.

But because the Leeds pitch is not likely to be helping bowlers much, you require more bowlers to keep injuries at bay by managing the workload. That's why India's former bowling coach Bharat Arun believes India must play 5 genuine bowlers.

Asked who they will be, Arun mentioned that Mohammed Siraj and Bumrah are the no-brainers. For the third pacer, between Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh, he choose the last one. He thinks Arshdeep's capability  to swing the ball will prove useful in England and the fact that he is a left-arm pacer is also a plus.

Here is what Arun told RevSportz

“Siraj and Bumrah is a no-brainer. The other two bowlers would be the toss-up between… I would definitely go for Arshdeep because being a left-hander, and not many people even get to practice against left-handers, even in the nets. So, it’s not always easy. Especially if there is a skillful left-hander, he becomes all the more potent,”

Quoting how Shane Warne used to trouble English batters, Arun believes Kuldeep Yadav needs to play. With Ravindra Jadeja and him, Team India would have five genuine bowlers.

English batsmen have struggled to read Kuldeep from around the hand and he can make good use of the rough. He believes his potential in the second innings would be extremely high and that makes him an excellent choice.

“Wrist spinners have always been effective, especially in England. Maybe even initially, when there is a little bit of dampness in the wicket, there is help for those wrist spinners. And also, the roughs that the bowlers create. But again, using the rough is a separate art.

It’s not just bowling. I think somebody who instantly comes to our mind is Shane Warne. I think Kuldeep has got enough skills to be successful in England. And also, if you look at this bowling attack, yes, it is relatively inexperienced, but it’s got huge potential. I would play Kuldeep Yadav. Even if not in the first innings, second innings, he would be a handful to deal with,”
