New Delhi: Kamal Haasan-Starrer Thug Life has finally been released in theatres amid the ongoing controversy and political row. The film created much hype on social media ever since its announcement, and now, moviegoers have finally watched the Tamil actioner in theatres.
The movie has received mixed reviews from the netizens. While some hailed the movie for its storyline, others were left disappointed. However, there was one user who pointed out that paid negative reviews are circulating on social media and criticised them. Let’s explore what netizens have to say about the latest release movie, Thug Life.
Directed by Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life has left the audience divided. While some called the film a cinematic marvel with stellar performances, others called it a below average entertainer. One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “At the end of the first half, felt the movie is a rehash & a simpler form of Mirzapur & Paatalok series.. Kamal & STR chemistry is the only thing that holds the film to some extent. #Thuglife.”
Another opined, “#ThugLife is a torture … neither Shakespearean nor Korean. Mani Ratnam should retire before he becomes the next Ram Gopal Varma. Kamal Hassan has now tanked both Shankar and Mani Ratnam in 6 months.”
Another shared, “It was uninteresting, routine, emotionless, aimless and unimpressive in every way, yet undeniably musical and stylish. #Thuglife.”
One more user wrote on X,”#ThugLife – DISASTER Even Mani ended up backstabbing us. A painfully average first half followed by an absolutely terrible second half. Outdated storytelling with zero freshness
Did NOT see this disappointment coming! COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE.”
Thug Life’s release was banned in Karnataka after Kamal Haasan said that ‘Kannada is born out of Tamil’, triggering a massive row. According to industry tracker, Sacnilk, the film is expected to earn around Rs 2.98 on its opening day. The movie also stars Trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan, Abhirami, Nassar, Ashok Selvan, and Aishwarya Lekshmi, among others.
