In the eyes of many, adding a goal-scoring centre-forward to their squad is a must for Arsenal this summer. It's been three consecutive second-placed finishes for the Gunners, who last won the league in 2004.

Having decided against going after a striker in both transfer windows last season, some believe it cost Arsenal a real shot at the title, with Liverpool having wrapped it up by late April. Ahead of the 2025/26 season, Arsenal's transfer strategy appears to have flipped, with talk of a striker addition having started to pick up.

RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko has emerged as the most likely candidate, and according to reports, negotiations between the two clubs are progressing nicely. Having netted 21 goals this season across all competitions, Sesko appears to be the ideal candidate to improve Arsenal's forward line.

But the 22-year-old won't be enough to end Arsenal's title drought, at least according to Express Sport readers, who don't think the Gunners will top the table if they sign Sesko. A whopping 92 per cent of those who voted said Arsenal signing Sesko wouldn't be enough to turn three consecutive silver medals into gold next season.

It was reported earlier this week that Arsenal had formally approched Leizpig over signing Sesko, with the north London outfit having been exploring the conditions of a potential deal. Leipzig finished seventh in the Bundesliga and missed out on Europe altogether.

While no formal bid has been made by the Premier League side yet, Sesko is believed to be a long-term target for Arsenal, who were also linked to a move last summer, as well as the January window. Sesko is under contract at Leipzig until 2029, with a pricetag of £70m being mooted.

Viktor Gyokeres is another name believed to be on Arsenal's shortlist of potential striker additions, but the capital club appear to be facing competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United. Even though Ruben Amorim's side missed out on qualifying for Europe, .

Sporting, who won the league in Portugal last season, are rumoured to be asking for around £60m. Gyokeres netted an astonishing 54 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions throughout the 2024/25 campaign and already has an existing relationship with Amorim from their time in Lisbon together.
