MCD action continues against illegal construction in Delhi these days. Recently, action was taken at the Madrasi camp following the court order. More than 300 illegal houses were demolished here with the help of bulldozers. In this case, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party attacked CM Rekha Gupta. He accused the Lakh government of rendering thousands of people homeless. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has given a big statement on this whole issue. He said that if the court gives orders, then we have to take action. If the court orders are to break the slums, then neither the government nor the administration can do anything in it. The truth of Madrasi Colony is that the banks of Barapula are situated.
The court had ordered four times to remove this slum so that machines can be installed to clean the drain. Otherwise, there will be floods like 2023 again in Delhi.
If there was an accident, who would have been responsible? – Boundary line
The CM said that no one can disregard the order of the court. The residents of that camp have been allotted houses and shifted there. Action was taken at three places in Delhi, including a slum near the railway track. Railways have taken this action. If there is loss of life then who will be responsible? Should Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi or Arvind Kejriwal be held responsible?
He said that the court knows what he is doing and hence he has ordered. Apart from this, development works are going on at a cost of Rs 700 crore across Delhi.
For the past month, action is being taken on illegal construction in Delhi one after the other in Delhi.
Illegal construction was removed in Shahdara and Khajuri Chowk areas on 30 May
CM Gupta further said that the court has ordered to remove it four times. The court has repeatedly said that these slums should be removed only then the machinery can reach for the cleanliness of the drain, otherwise the situation will be created in the whole of Delhi. The people of Madrasi camp have also been given a house and shifted to them. Similarly, action has been done on encroachment at three places in Delhi. Along with him, people had built houses on a railway track, there has been action on it. If a child comes on the railway track, who will be responsible for it. Saurabh will be Bhardwaj or Aatishi.
What is the whole matter?
Let me tell you that a big action was taken against illegal encroachment in the capital Delhi last Sunday. A bulldozer was run on more than 300 slums at the Madrasi camp at Jungpura here. This demolition on Sunday is done by the Special Task Force (STF). According to the administration, the entire area was illegally occupied and notice was given before the action. A large number of people were present during this action who protested, but illegal occupations were removed in the presence of heavy police force. Rekha Sarkar came on target of both AAP and Congress regarding this action.
Action on the order of the High Court
Significantly, the Delhi High Court has ordered the removal of encroachment on public land in Madrasi camp. On the court’s order, the officers will implement from 1 June 2025. That is, from June 1, officials can demolish illegal slums by running bulldozers. The High Court also said in its judgment, “A systematic plan should also be prepared for the rehabilitation of the residents before demolition. According to the order of the Delhi High Court, demolition will be done in a systematic manner and the residents will only have the right to rehabilitate.”
The High Court judge had clearly stated that no resident can claim any rights beyond the right to rehabilitation, as it is public land and encroached.
