According to Dimsum DailyLau Dan has made multiple claims in interviews that Yang has been largely uninvolved in 11-year-old Noemie Lau’s upbringing. He pointed out that Yang never called her daughter on holidays and highlighted that Noemie Lau did not even ask about her mother on Mother’s Day, implying a strained relationship between the two.
In response to Lau Dan’s accusations, Taiwanese actress Evonne Sie, a close friend of Yang, defended the actress, as reported by Yahoo! Life Singapore. Sie explained that Yang often shares photos of Noemie Lau with her privately and that they frequently discuss parenting during their meetings. Sie also mentioned that Yang has visited Noemie Lau in Hong Kong several times, though she prefers to do so discreetly to avoid attracting public attention.
Yang herself addressed parenting in a previous interview, explaining that she visits her daughter whenever possible, but prefers not to disclose the timing or expose Noemie Lau’s private life. Yang emphasized that her main goal is to allow her daughter to have a normal, undisturbed childhood.
Yang, 39, began her acting career in childhood and rose to fame with her role in the 2011 time-travel historical romance drama “Palace.” She is regarded as one of the successors to China’s “Four Dan Actresses,” a title given to the country’s top-grossing actresses including Xu Jinglei, Zhou Xun, Vicki Zhao, and Zhang Ziyi.
Yang married Hawick Lau, 51, in 2014, but the couple divorced in 2018. Following their separation, Hawick Lau was granted custody of their daughter.
