A Pizza chef has revealed the correct way you should be slicing your pizza to make sure it is exactly how you first put it in the oven without ruining its appearence.

Pizza is the most convenient comfort food there is, and with a variety of topins to choose from, not many think about the correct way to slice it once it has been freshly delievered to your door or finished cooking from frozen.

Marco Biasetti, Pizza Chef at , has revealed the 1 common mistakes people make when slicing their pizza by advising: "After your pizza is cooked, you'll naturally want to cut it and serve it up immediately, but this is where you could risk ruining your freshly baked pizza. Cutting the pizza too soon can result in the cheese sliding right off and the crust becoming too weak. It's best to wait around 2-3 minutes before cutting the pizza to ensure the cheese and toppings have enough time to set."

Letting the pizza cool for a couple of minutes allows the cheese to firm slightly, and the topings to set which makes for cleaner, more even slices. Cutting too soon also causes the base to compress or tear, especially with deep pan or wood-fired styled pizza.

Biasetti also points out other common mistakes people are making when it comes to cooking pizza, he adds: ''While it's tempting to dive straight in, letting the oven reach its ideal temperature first helps stop the dough from sticking".

Think about the amount of times you've bought a frozen pizza and put it straight into the oven and only having to scrape parts of it off the tray because it has tore apart. These small little tweaks can help perfect its outcome once it has finished cooking.

The chef goes on to say if you are making your own pizza: "One of the biggest mistakes when cooking pizza at home starts with the dough itself. Using a dough that's too cold can make it more difficult to stretch and can lead to it tearing. To avoid this, let the dough sit for a couple of hours at room temperature. For the best results, place a clean, damp towel over your dough to allow it to rise and expand fully before shaping"

This will help maintain the firmness of the Pizza once it is ready and should have little trouble when cutting slices.
