Michael Ross' lawyer has described the convicted killer as "well-mannered" and "gentle" following their initial meeting.
has dropped its latest gripping documentary in the shape of The Orkney Assassin: Murder In The Isles, which debuted on Sunday, June 8.
Ross was convicted in 2008 for the murder of waiter Shamsuddin Mahmood at an Indian restaurant, earning him a life sentence 14 years after the brutal killing.
Donald Findlay QC famously defended Ross during his trial, yet with more than 10 years until parole consideration, he has since sought out another legal representative in Aamer Anwar.
However, his lawyer has expressed his initial doubts about taking on the highly controversial case.
He commented: "'Why me? You know my reputation. You know I fight injustice, human rights and on race' but they said that's exactly the reason why Michael wanted me to have a look at the case.
"And when I met Michael, he was well mannered, considered, gentle."
Since being sentenced, Ross has remained adamant that he is innocent and has tried to escape three times, the latest taking place in 2018 when he attempted to climb a fence.
Anwar further elaborated on Ross' unwavering stance as the convicted murderer continues to insist that he is innocent.
"And the fact that in all these years, he's maintained his innocence", Anwar added.
"That always strikes me when somebody refuses to take the easy option and go 'you know what, I'm guilty' to try and get out earlier.
"But he's refused to do that, he says he cannot do that, he insists he's an innocent man. And it's never ended."
The Orkney Assassin: Murder In The Isles is available to watch on Prime Video.
