Kisan Mandhan Yojna: Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana is an important social security initiative of the Government of India, which was launched on 12 September 2019. Its purpose is to provide financial support to small and marginal farmers in old age. Farmers themselves contribute to this scheme and the government gives this amount in the form of equal matching payment. In this way, on completion of 60 years of age, they are given a pension of Rs 3,000 per month, which brings financial stability in their old age lifestyle.

Farmers aged 18 to 40 years can join Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana. Their land should not be more than 2 hectares. Only those farmers can avail the benefits of this scheme who are not income tax payers and are not associated with any other government pension scheme like EPF, NPS or ESIC. In this scheme, the farmer has to contribute from Rs 55 to Rs 200 every month. This contribution is decided on the basis of the age of the farmer.

For example, if a farmer joins the scheme at the age of 18, then he will have to deposit Rs 55 per month. On the other hand, if someone joins the scheme at the age of 40, then he will have to pay Rs 200 every month. When the farmer turns 60, he will start getting a pension of Rs 3,000 every month.

How to apply

To apply in Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana, the farmer must have Aadhar card, bank passbook, mobile number and age certificate. There are two ways to apply. The first way is online application. For this, go to the government's official website www.pmkmy.gov.in and click on 'Apply Now' and fill the form by entering the Aadhaar number. The second method is offline. For this, the farmer will have to go to his nearest Common Service Center i.e. CSC. There the operator will take the farmer's information and do the online registration. After this, by filling an auto debit form, the monthly amount will be automatically deducted from the farmer's bank account.
