Indian Railways:Indian Railways has made important changes in its rules to provide better facilities to passengers and bring transparency in the ticketing system. These changes have been made especially to prevent misuse of general tickets and to provide convenience to real passengers.
The Railway Ministry has now decided to implement these revised policies launched in 2016, so that the black marketing of the ticket will be curbed and passengers can get services as per their needs. Under these rules (Indian Railways Regulations), the deadline for purchasing and using tickets has been fixed according to the distance of the journey, so that the arrangement of the railway can be further smooth.
Validity of tickets
Under the new rules, the validity period of the ticket has been fixed according to the distance of the journey. If you are traveling for a short distance up to 190 kilometers, then you have to start your journey within three hours of purchasing tickets. This rule is especially designed for travelers who travel short distance, so that the ticket is used immediately and it is not misused.
At the same time, if your journey is more than 200 kilometers, then you have to buy a ticket three days before the journey. This system helps in better planning for long distance trips. Apart from this, the rules are also strict for traveling less than 109 kilometers – it is necessary to start the journey three hours after leaving the train or purchasing tickets.
Ticket cancellation and transfer facility
Railways have also issued clear guidelines for ticket cancellation and transfer to another train. If a passenger wants to cancel his journey within three hours of purchasing tickets, he can travel by another train. However, this feature is available only for reasonable reasons.
The aim of the railway is that passengers should get flexibility in emergency, but there is also a provision for strict action against those who misuse this facility. These rules (Indian Railways Regulations) ensure that real travelers get necessary convenience and remain transparency in the system.
If the rules are broken, heavy fines
Passengers may have to pay heavy fine for not following the new rules or misuse of tickets. Especially giving general tickets to someone else or misusing it is considered a serious crime. Many times passengers give tickets to someone else after completing their journey, which is completely illegal.
Railway monitoring teams keep a close watch on such activities. Not only is a fine imposed on being caught, but the use of railway services in future can also be banned. This system has been implemented to make the ticketing process more transparent.
Necessary advice for passengers
In order to follow the new rules, passengers should take special care of some things. First of all, plan your journey in advance and buy tickets at the right time according to the distance. After purchasing the ticket, strictly follow the deadline.
Under no circumstances should you give your ticket to anyone else nor use anyone else’s ticket. If there is a change in the travel plan, then cancel the ticket correctly and get a new ticket. These precautions will not only protect you from penalty, but will also help in improving the system of railways further. This initiative of Indian Railways is in the interest of passengers, and its correct adherence will be beneficial for all.
