A minor earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale struck Southern California on Tuesday afternoon, with tremors felt across multiple cities including Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and Manhattan Beach.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred at 12:15 PM PDT, centered approximately 14 kilometers southwest of Manhattan Beach. The epicenter was located near the Palos Verdes Peninsula at coordinates 33.826°N, 118.549°W, with a depth of 11.3 kilometers.

Residents across the Los Angeles County coastline reported light to moderate shaking. The USGS “Did You Feel It?” platform recorded responses from several neighborhoods, including Venice, Inglewood, Redondo Beach, Torrance, and Santa Monica.

The earthquake, while relatively mild, was widely felt due to its shallow depth and proximity to densely populated areas. It occurred roughly 20 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Emergency services have not issued any alerts or warnings following the incident, and no aftershocks have been confirmed at this time.

California’s Integrated Seismic Network (CI) continues to monitor the region for any further seismic activity.
