CNN was forced to halt its live news feed to deliver breaking news about President Donald Trump, and it's good news for the American politician. The American news channel reports that President Trump's approval rating on immigration is surging like a "rocket." 's chief data reporter said a sharp rise in public approval for Trump's immigration policies has led to his decision to send 2,000 National Guard troops to LA amid violent protests over immigration enforcement. Data analyst Harry Enten explained that Trump's net approval rating on immigration has experienced a dramatic shift since his first term. It's also good news for him, as it has moved from negative 21% in 2017 to plus 1% today.
"This is Trump's net approval rating on immigration," Enten explained to host John Berman. "It's gone up like a rocket now versus eight years ago during Trump's first term."
"Trump is begging for a fight on this because he knows what he's doing so far is working with the American electorate," Enten added. "It's not just on the broad issue of immigration where Trump is doing well - it's on the specifics."
A new CBS News poll, which supports Enten's analysis, is then shown on screen. According to the survey, 54 per cent of the public supports Trump's recent mass deportation orders.
He then revealed that 51 per cent support Immigration and Customs Enforcement's operations within local communities. These figures mark a significant shift since Trump's first presidency.
Entern then referred to an Ipsos poll that revealed that Republican voters have a 19-point advantage over Democrats on the issue of immigration.
"Americans believe that Democrats just don't have a clue on immigration," Enten noted, explaining the GOP's credibility on the topic has grown considerably since 2024.
Meanwhile, riots erupted over the weekend in Los Angeles over the Trump administration's efforts to detain illegal immigrants. 39 people were arrested for participating in the riots.
