As temperatures rise and celebrations move outdoors, pastel hues are emerging as the season’s most stylish and sensible wardrobe choice. From breezy brunches to balmy evening weddings, these soft shades are painting a picture of effortless elegance and comfort — and designers and brands alike are taking note.

Designer Bhawna Rao, known for her modern yet romantic aesthetic, beautifully captures the allure of pastels for summer occasions.

“Pastel shades are a timeless favourite for warm-weather occasions because they effortlessly capture the essence of summer soft, soothing, and endlessly elegant. Whether it’s a garden brunch or a beachside wedding, pastels lend an airy, sophisticated charm that feels both fresh and festive. As a designer, I find these shades incredibly versatile think powder blue, blush pink, lavender, or mint they flatter every skin tone and allow room for playful styling through embroidery, textures, or accessories.”

For Rao, the magic lies not just in the colour, but in the fabric choice. “When designing for summer events, I always focus on breathable, lightweight fabrics like organza, chiffon, and fine georgette. These not only drape beautifully but also offer comfort in high temperatures.

Pastels also photograph wonderfully in natural light, which is why brides and guests alike are leaning into these hues for outdoor functions. For those who want to make a statement while staying cool, pastel tones offer the perfect balance of grace and practicality. They bring a certain romantic ease — which, to me, is the true spirit of summer fashion.”

That sentiment is echoed by Nisha Khatri, Head of Marketing, Libas, a brand synonymous with contemporary Indianwear rooted in Indian tradition. “Pastel tones have emerged as an elegant and practical choice for warm-weather occasions, offering a harmonious blend of comfort, style, and seasonal relevance. At Libas, we recognize the growing preference for lighter hues and breathable fabrics during summer especially for events that demand both ease and sophistication.

Whether it is a soft peach kurta set in cotton-silk or a sage green co-ord crafted in lightweight linen, pastel ensembles provide visual freshness while ensuring comfort throughout the day. Their ability to reflect heat, combined with relaxed silhouettes and fluid drapes, makes them ideal for everything from day-time brunches to outdoor celebrations.”

“Our design philosophy is rooted in creating garments that celebrate Indian aesthetics while adapting to contemporary lifestyle needs. In this context, pastels are not merely a trend they are a considered choice for those seeking elegance without compromise, particularly in warmer climates.”

Whether you’re a minimalist or a maximalist, there’s no denying it: pastel fashion is not just summer-ready,  it’s here to stay.
