Delhi Cabinet: The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Delhi Chief Minister Internship Program, under which DU students will work closely with the government. The program aims to harness the energy and innovative ideas of the youth of India.
The program was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. It aims to involve young trainees pursuing graduation or post-graduation from various fields. These ideas will be implemented in policy and decision-making so that Delhi can be made a smart, clean, and prosperous metropolis.
Under this scheme, 150 meritorious and talented youth who have studied in India will work in the Delhi government for 89 days. These trainees will be appointed in various departments like health, education, transport, administrative reforms, social welfare, and environment.
Delhi University (DU) has been selected as the agency for the selection of interns. The cabinet also approved the deployment of 100 interns on a stipend basis for one year in the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
This programme will provide an opportunity to the recently trained young qualified professionals in this field to gain practical experience and learn about the latest techniques and technologies in forensic science such as forensic biology, ballistics, chemistry, cyber, fingerprint analysis, DNA analysis and crime scene investigation. Gupta said that in the last 100 days, important decisions have been taken in public interest in every Cabinet meeting.
