In her new vlog, Alia is spotted reading a lovely welcome message written on a note inside her hotel room. The note read, “Dear Alia Kapoor,” and her fans assumed she has got her documents changed officially too. The netizens got quick into reaction mode with half of them praising her decision and the other half with a tinge of sadness over her original surname.

A Brand Name or Personal Choice?

Certain people feel ‘Alia Bhatt’ is now a brand of its own and wish she keeps it for professional reasons. Comments such as “Alia Bhatt has more ring to it” and “It’s a brand name now” resounded on social media. Others defended her by saying, “It’s her choice,” and “It’s hilarious how people get upset over a woman adopting her husband’s surname.”

Alia Clarifies Her Stand

In a previous interview with Mid-Day, Alia had explained that her on-screen name would continue to be ‘Alia Bhatt’, but she would like to become ‘Alia Bhatt-Kapoor’ legally. The actress went on to say that with the birth of her child, it would make sense practically for her official papers to bear the Kapoor surname. “I don’t want to be the Bhatt and the Kapoors travel together,” she said.
