In fact, on 4 June, the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede occurred during the RCB’s Victory Parade. 11 people lost their lives in this accident, while more than 40 people were injured. At the same time, an FIR was lodged against RCB, KSCA and DNA the next day of the incident, while on June 6, RCB marketing head Nikhil Sosh and DNA’s three officers- Director and Vice President Sunil Matthew, Manager Kiran Kumar and ticket officer Shamant Mavinakere were arrested. While hearing the petition challenging the arrest, the court has granted interim bail to all the accused. A bench headed by Justice SR Krishnakumar gave interim relief.

Sose and others had filed a petition in the High Court challenging the validity of their arrests and accused them of serious procedural lapse. The hearing of the case started on Monday. At that time, the Karnataka High Court objected to the state government’s attitude against providing “interim relief” to Sose. At the same time, Justice Krishnakumar had completed the hearing on the interim bail petitions filed by the four on Wednesday (June 11) and reserved the verdict. On Thursday, the High Court gave its verdict on bail petitions.

Earlier on Wednesday, Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty, appearing for the state, argued against the interim relief and made several allegations against the RCB and its partners. The state government also convicted the BCCI and argued that there was an agreement between RCB and BCCI regarding security, gate and ticket management for the event. The Advocate General emphasized that under the terms of that agreement, the responsibility of gate control, ticketing and security was fully RCB.
