Radio Derby listeners were in for a shock when presenter Ian Skye dropped a swear word live on air. The seasoned radio host was forced to apologise after he experienced a sudden surge of pain and swore loudly.

His words were heard live when he thought he had cut from his segment during his lunchtime show. Speaking to his fans, Ian told listeners to send in any requests, when suddenly he experienced a cramp. In the background, the presenter howled: "Ow, f***ing hell," before the show cuts back to people chatting.

His co-host then gave a brutal jibe, saying that they had been on a training course the day before to improve their presenting skills. They stated, "I don't think they suggested suddenly getting unbearably agonising cramp and shouting really loud on the radio." Ian then replied, "No, that's probably not what I should have come in and done today."

Ian then continued, "Can I just say, before that amazing song from Kate Bush, and I say if, you'd have had to be deaf if you didn't, hear a rude word.

"I really profusely apologise. You know when something happens and it's just instinct. My very, very calm producer said 'you're still on the radio, Ian."

Listeners were left in hysterics over the live blunder and took to social media to react. One person said, "Fair play though he dealt with it head on! Full marks for that."

A second also commented, "He actually sounds like a really decent bloke! Who cares if he swore a bit by accident." A third similarly echoed, "This brightened my week, let alone my day. Thank you so much for sharing this."

A fourth asked, "Didn't it happen to A fifth thought it was a good laugh and joked, "Interesting new jingle for BBC Radio Derby. Quite like the concept."

Another left a comment saying, "Known Ian for 30 years. He is a good guy. This is a moment and it has passed. Why we still feel the need to pretend to be shocked in a 24/7 unedited world is beyond me. Plus, it is possibly one of the most entertaining things on BBC derby in years!"
