Indian Football Crisis: Amidst the ongoing controversy in Indian football, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Choubey on Friday dismissed the allegations of corruption on himself during a press conference. He said that under his leadership, the institution has always followed appropriate procedures.

Indian Football Crisis: “If there was corruption, a red flag would definitely arise”

Kalyan Choubey said, “If there was any corruption, it must have been seen or a red flag would have been seen. These allegations have been leveled by only 3-4 people, who have either lost the election against my team or have been a part of AIFF in the past.”

Indian Football Crisis: “My family was also targeted”

He also said that he and his family have been emotional harassment due to this dispute. “I only present facts and figures,” he said. Choubey also reminded that “Baichung Bhutia, one of India’s greatest strikers, was an AIFF advisor and was given a monthly honorarium of ₹ 1.5 lakh.”

Indian Football Crisis: “Executive Committee is formed to stop corruption”

The AIFF president said that during his tenure, 11 executive committee meetings have been held in 13 months. Their purpose is to ensure that if there is any irregularity, it can be stopped in a democratic manner.

Indian Football Crisis: Trouble on Baichung Bhutia

Recently, Baichung Bhutia attacked the AIFF president and said, “M” Kalyan Choubey should leave the post for Indian football. ” In response, Choubey questioned Bhutia’s commercial football academies. He alleged that “he runs a commercial football school in his name – about 20 schools across the country. Through these schools they are taking unfair advantage by playing with the feelings of the people.”

Indian Football Crisis: “BBFS team lost 31-0”

Choubey also mentioned the poor performance of Bhutia’s academy. He said that “the Under-17 team of BBFS had lost 31–0 to Minerva Academy on 31 March.” The AIFF president said that such a defeat shows that “just a big name does not make the quality of the academy.”

Indian Football Crisis: “Dream business is being traded”

Kalyan Choubey said emotionally, “Bhutia showed the dream to the families that if you join my academy, you can also become a footballer. But the results are in front of everyone.”

Indian Football Crisis: This dispute between AIFF and Baichung Bhutia highlights the lack of deep mistrust and transparency in Indian football. While Chairman Choubey is calling himself innocent, on the other hand, former captain Bhutia is telling deep flaws in the system. Now it will have to be seen what form this conflict takes further – step or dispute towards improvement?
