Hema Malinis niece and actress Madhoo Shah who did films like Phool Aur Kaante Roja and Allari Priyudu made a special place in the hearts of fans with just a few films but she always kept her limits for work. Madhoo always believed in maintaining a domestic image; she believes that it was her upbringing that kept her away from bold films. Recently Madhoo spoke openly about a strange experience in her career. Madhoo told how she was deeply hurt when an unwanted kissing scene was shot in a film. I said yes to everything… but not this In a recent interview with News18 Shosha Madhoo Shah said I always insisted on maintaining my homely image. My upbringing kept me away from bold roles. I said yes to every role except one thing - explicit scenes. I got to know on the set that I would have to kiss The actress recalled the scene when she came to know on the set that she had to do a kiss scene. Madhoo said It was not like todays filmy kisses it was just a peck on the lips but I felt very bad about it. I was not told about it before the shooting. I came to know that it was a scene only after going to the set. The producers explained that it was necessary so I did it but it was a very bad experience for me. Madhoo did the scene but she did not like it. In the conversation she further said that the kiss had no meaning. I did not even talk to the director about not including that scene in the film. I let it go. I was very young naive in every way. Todays 22-24-year-olds are more intelligent but I was very young both in age and understanding. Fire changed my perspective Years later Deepa Mehtas 1996 film Fire helped change Madhoos thinking about on-screen intimacy. The film starred Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das as lesbian lovers a bold move for the time. I dont mean that on-screen kissing is a bad thing. When I saw Shabana ji in Fire I thought she broke her own boundaries which I couldnt do then. I dont think I can still do what she did. I admire actors who can shave their heads or play lesbians in films she said.
