The X Fold 5 teaser suggests a thin frame with a large battery
Vivo X Fold 5 has been in the news for the last few weeks and now we have an official launch date for the new model. Vivo has claimed that its new foldable is lighter, thinner but powerful than the previous X Fold 3 version and we will be seeing those confirmed at the event later this month in China.
The X Fold 5 launch suggests Vivo is skipping the number 4 in the series which is considered inauspicious in China. Vivo X Fold 5 is widely tipped to be launched in India a few weeks later after its global debut.
Vivo X Fold 5 Launch Date In China And More Details
The Vivo X Fold 5 launch event is on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 7:00 PM local time in China. You can watch the same in India at 4:30 PM IST via official channels. The Vivo X Fold 5 teaser suggests the foldable will come in black, white and green colour variants. The device will once again feature a Zeiss optics camera system built into a circular module like the previous version.
Vivo X Fold 5 Expected Specifications
The X Fold 5 from Vivo is expected to come with 8.7mm thickness which makes it almost as sleek as the 8.5mm frame on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The Fold 5 is rumoured to weigh around 209 which is better than the 219 grams that you had on the X Fold 3 variant.
The foldable could have a 8.03-inch main display with a 2K AMOLED panel and support for 120Hz refresh rate on both the screens.
Vivo is also likely to pack a giant 6,000mAh battery into its foldable, which will be impressive for a sleek device. However, all these upgrades could be paired with last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset which could help in pricing it lower than the competition. We could again have a triple camera setup of 50MP sensors which includes a wide, ultra-wide and a periscope telephoto lens.
The X Fold 3 was not a slouch by any means but people investing over a lakh will always have second thoughts about brands other than Apple and Samsung even if the hardware warrants their attention. We have been hearing noises about the X Fold 5 set for India launch in July which could be confirmed in the next few days.
