Akshay Kumar, a name synonymous with comedy hits, returned to the big screen with Housefull 5, expecting another box office riot. Backed by a star-studded cast including Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh, the fifth installment of the popular franchise opened with impressive numbers—but the initial buzz now seems to be fading fast.

Released on 6 June, Housefull 5 raked in ₹100 crore in just the first three days, igniting hopes of a massive blockbuster. However, the comedy entertainer’s earnings have seen a consistent drop through the week.

Day 8 Collection Disappoints

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film earned only ₹6 crore on its eighth day—the lowest single-day figure so far. This brings the total India collection to ₹133.25 crore, while the global tally has reportedly crossed ₹170 crore.

Despite a strong start, Housefull 5 now appears to be struggling to maintain audience interest, especially with a production budget of a massive ₹255 crore. The road to recovery seems steep unless weekend numbers give the film a second wind.

What Went Wrong?

The film’s highest single-day collection came on Sunday (₹32.5 crore), but audience feedback has been mixed since. One major criticism is the inclusion of two climaxes, which many viewers found confusing and unnecessary, dragging down the film’s otherwise light-hearted pace.

While Housefull has always thrived on slapstick humor and over-the-top storytelling, this time the formula may not be landing as well as expected—even with big names and lavish production.
