In an effort to rejuvenate tourism in the Kashmir Valley, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced on Saturday the reopening of eight well-known tourist spots that had been closed after a terrorist incident in Pahalgam on April 22. During a press briefing in South Kashmir, LG Sinha highlighted that this decision was reached following a thorough evaluation of the current circumstances.

“To prioritize tourist safety, approximately 48 locations were temporarily shut down as a precaution,” Sinha stated. “We are excited to inform that these sites will gradually reopen for visitors.”

The first phase of reopening will feature picturesque locations in Anantnag District, including Betab Valley, Pahalgam, Verinag, Kokernag, and Achabal Gardens, as well as parks in the Pahalgam market. In Srinagar, Badamwari, Duck Park, and Taqdeer Park near Hazratbal will also be accessible to the public once again.

LG Sinha expressed hope that the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra would significantly aid in revitalizing tourism in the region. “I encourage everyone to participate in this annual pilgrimage to ensure its success,” he remarked. “This is your Yatra, and it will greatly benefit the local economy and tourism revival.”

The reopening of these tourist attractions in Kashmir signifies a positive move towards restoring the region's status as a top tourist destination, inviting both local and national visitors to explore its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
