Jharkhand crime news: In Lohardaga district of Jharkhand, police have seized a large amount of drugs while exposing a large network of cannabis smuggling. This action was taken on the basis of secret information on Friday, in which the police have seized a cannabis worth more than Rs 50 lakh and arrested a smuggler.
SP Sadiq Anwar Rizvi of Lohardaga told the media that raids were conducted on the house of Sandeep Sahu (33 years) located in Bagdu police station area of Oraiya. A total of 42.7 kg of cannabis kept in 28 sacks was recovered from there. This seizure is so large that it indicates that the accused were active in this business for a long time.
During interrogation, Sandeep told the police that one of his colleagues Ravi Sahu, who lives in Lohardaga police station area, is also involved in this smuggling. The police also raided Ravi’s house promptly, from where 3.5 kg of hemp was seized. However, Ravi escaped from the spot. In search of him, the police has started a intensive search operation.
According to SP Rizvi, in the investigation so far it has been revealed that it can be an organized gang, whose network is spread outside Jharkhand as well. The police is also investigating in which states this racket is active and who are their other colleagues.
At present, the arrested accused Sandeep Sahu has been sent to judicial custody. Intensive inquiries are going on, so the police hope that information will be available about other people associated with this gang.
