As soon as earthquakes were felt one after another in Pakistan after India's 'Operation Sindoor', now some similar seismic movements were recorded in Iran as well. According to the report of the Iranian Seismological Center, a total of 6 earthquakes were recorded in Iran and its surrounding areas in a single day on Sunday, June 15. This has not only shocked the scientific community but has also worried international security experts.
Where did the tremors occur?
14:13 hrs – 2.5 magnitude in Sangan, Khorasan Razavi
14:13 hrs – 2.5 magnitude in Islam Qala, Afghanistan
10:24 hrs – 3.4 magnitude in Chatrud, Kerman
07:11 hrs – 4.3 magnitude in Nosrat Abad, Sistan-Baluchistan
03:45 hrs – 3.7 magnitude in Kong, Hormozgan
02:15 hrs – 3.0 magnitude in Roydar, Hormozgan
Why do such earthquakes occur?
All these earthquakes occurred at a depth of 8 to 13 kilometers, which generally fall in the category of shallow earthquakes. Such earthquakes are often also associated with mining or underground explosions. In such a situation, it is believed that the way Israel has bombed Iran's underground locations may also have this effect.
Why is there a fear of a nuclear link?
Iran has long been under international suspicion over its nuclear program. Many times it has been accused of conducting nuclear tests secretly. The special thing is that the areas where these earthquakes were recorded, such as Sistan-Baluchistan and Kerman, are considered strategically and militarily sensitive areas. According to experts, underground nuclear tests can also cause tremors in the ground, which are usually recorded as earthquakes. These tremors may be low in intensity, but when they start occurring repeatedly in a limited area, questions start arising.
Same pattern in Pakistan too?
After 'Operation Sindoor', frequent earthquakes started occurring in areas like Baluchistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Sindh in Pakistan. Now the same pattern is being seen in Iran too. Strategic affairs experts believe that similar movements in both countries cannot be just a coincidence. Some analysts even believe that if India has targeted any nuclear depot or bunker of Pakistan, then it is possible that Iran, sensing the danger, has also started the process of testing or transferring its weapons.
Indications also found in satellite images.
Initial analysis of satellite data of America and Israel has recorded unusual heat and ground movement in the eastern part of Iran, which may point to an explosion or underground construction. Although there has been no official confirmation on this, but these indications have fueled further speculation.
