In a major relief for millions of Aadhaar cardholders across the country, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline to update Aadhaar documents for free. The new deadline is June 14, 2026. This free facility is only available through the myAadhaar portal, where users can upload documents related to their identity and address at no cost.
According to UIDAI's official announcement on social media, the initiative aims to help citizens keep their Aadhaar details accurate and up to date.
Previously, users had to pay ₹50 for these updates, but the online document update service is now completely free — though only via the online portal, not offline.

UIDAI strongly recommends document updates for:
Individuals who got their Aadhaar 10 years ago and haven’t updated it since.
Those whose demographic details have changed due to marriage, job relocation, or address change.
You can update:
Proof of Identity (PoI): Name, Date of Birth, etc.
Proof of Address (PoA): Current address.
But if you wish to update:
Mobile number
Email ID
Fingerprint
Iris scan
Photograph
👉 You’ll need to visit the nearest Aadhaar centre and pay the standard fee for those updates.
Follow these steps on the myAadhaar portal:
Go to the official UIDAI website.
Log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP.
Check your name and address details.
If the information is correct, click on ‘I verify that the above details are correct.’
Choose your identity document from the dropdown list.
Upload the document in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format (maximum size 2MB).
Do the same for your address proof.
Provide your consent and complete the process.
Download and save the acknowledgment receipt for future reference.
This free update service is valid only till June 14, 2026.
After that, UIDAI may reintroduce update charges.
If you haven't updated your Aadhaar in over a decade, now is the perfect time to do it — and that too for free. Make sure to take advantage of this one-time extended window to keep your records accurate and hassle-free for future use.
